Our Pioneers
Both George Dantzig and Edsger Dijkstra predicated that mathematical optimization or linear programming will play a vital role in a data dominated society. George Dantzig was first to implement mathematical optimization without a computer already in 1947 to help solve US army logistical challenges in WWII. Edsger Dijkstra, a Dutchman and considered the father of modern computer science, was the first to successfully use mathematical optimization in a computer environment in 1956 to calculate the optimal distance between two locations. Nowadays so-called Dijkstra algorithm is used in many GPS navigation systems.”

Complex oil and gas production systems generate large number of parameters that require sometimes daily optimization.
